Q. Do you have any past experiences that you think may have contributed to your current situation?

My current situation can be attributed to my history battling a drug and alcohol addiction. The grip it had on me destroyed everything I had. I was left stranded on the streets and the side effects of the addiction were crippling. I had nothing to call my own and sold items like my cellphone to feed the addiction. Since then, I’ve made steady progress in moving away from my shaky past. At 20 years of age, I have a life ahead of me and I am ready to fix my earlier mistakes.

Q. What impact do you think a cellphone could have on your life?

I am now working to fix the bad choices I made in the past and have been trying to get back into school. I’ve upgraded three of my basic courses and think I am ready to pursue a combined major in business and engineering. I am correcting myself as best as I can through martial arts as well. Unfortunately, recently I received a serious injury to my leg while training. I am hoping to use the cellphone to arrange physiotherapy appointments to help facilitate a quicker recovery. I also have plans to get employed once again, or at least find a part time job. The phone will help give me an identity when dealing with future employers, it is almost important to find a job without one. As someone who has dealt with social issues from an early age, I am also hoping the phone can enable me to communicate more frequently with my family.
